Mount Pleasant, SC — Today, retired Rear Admiral Nancy Lacore announced her campaign for Congress in South Carolina’s First District has raised over $1 million in its first quarter, marking a strong early showing just 10 weeks after launching her campaign on January 20.
Lacore’s fundraising success continues the momentum that has been building since she launched her campaign with national endorsements from The Bench, EMILYs List, and VoteVets; outraising the rest of the primary field combined within weeks; and touring the district - participating in forums, county conventions, and hosting events - meeting voters where they are throughout the Lowcountry.
The campaign’s fundraising total comes from more than 20,000 individual donors, including over 19,700 who contributed under $100— reflecting broad grassroots support from across the Lowcountry and the nation.
“From day one, this campaign has been about service above politics, and I am incredibly humbled by how many South Carolinians and people across the country are inspired by my story,” said Lacore. “People are ready for a new kind of leadership, one focused on getting things done and putting the country first. This early support shows we’re building the kind of campaign it will take to win in November.”
After 35 years of service, Lacore was removed from her position as Chief of Navy Reserve by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth without explanation, a move that drew national attention.
