Mount Pleasant, SC – Tonight, Nancy Lacore resoundingly won the second of two debates in South Carolina’s First Congressional District. Nancy demonstrated that she is prepared to lead on day one and actually deliver results for the Lowcountry. Meanwhile her opponent, Jenny Honeycutt, continued to defend data centers and stand by policies that are raising costs on working families including the Iran war and the One Big Beautiful Bill.
The following statement can be attributed to Lacore campaign manager Kaylie Haberstroh:
“Nancy Lacore was the only person on the debate stage this evening who showed an understanding of the hardship families are facing and the only one who presented a plan to help people get ahead. While her opponent once again defended data centers and twisted herself into a pretzel trying to walk back her past comments about gas not being too expensive, Nancy Lacore showed true leadership. It is clear that Nancy has a plan to lower costs, restore civility to politics, and actually get things done for the Lowcountry. Jenny Honeycutt has nothing more than empty, out-of-touch talking points. The choice in this election is clear, Jenny will fight for data centers and Nancy Lacore will fight for South Carolina families.”
Key Debate Moments:
Honeycutt once again doubled down on her support for bringing data centers to the Lowcountry. This follows her comments at the first debate saying that “data centers can be extremely valuable.”
Nancy contrasted her commitment to lowering costs with Honeycutt’s out-of-touch comments downplaying rising gas prices and saying that she doesn’t know anyone who has lost their health care.
Honeycutt opened the door to cuts to Social Security, saying we need to make "tough decisions" about changes to the Social Security eligibility age and take a "hard look" at Social Security.
