Mount Pleasant, SC — This morning, retired Rear Admiral Nancy Lacore cast her ballot at Mount Pleasant’s early voting location at the Wando Public Library alongside her husband and two of her daughters.

“This morning, people across this district and across South Carolina are exercising their right to vote and making their voices heard,” Lacore said. “Ballots from active-duty military members serving overseas and absentee voters have already been coming in for weeks. This is an active election, and thousands more votes will be cast today.”

“This attempt at redistricting in the middle of an active election breaks with decades of precedent and undermines confidence in our democratic process,” Lacore continued. “I spent 35 years in uniform defending the Constitution and the democratic system it upholds. And I believe this deeply: district lines should reflect communities — not politics.”

Lacore and her family joined a long line of voters gathered outside the Wando Public Library ahead of polls opening at 8:30am on the first day of early voting in South Carolina’s June 9 Primary.
